About this site

Accessibility

This website is built to be accessible for anybody. This means that the contents of the site can be accessed regardless of which web browser, computer, or other browsing device is used, and regardless of any disabilities a visitor might have.

Text size

If you find the text on any website too small to read comfortably, you can tell your web browser to increase the size of the text. How to do that varies slightly between web browsers, but in most cases commands for this can be found in the browser’s “View” menu.

All modern web browsers except Internet Explorer for Windows (IE/Win) can resize any text, no matter which unit has been used to specify text size. IE/Win does not let the user resize text on websites that specify text size in pixels, unless you first change a setting in the browser options. To avoid that problem, this website uses the unit “em” to specify text size, but in case you should need to, here is how to change that setting in IE/Win:

  1. Select “Internet options” in the “Tools” menu.
  2. Click on the “Accessibility…” button.
  3. Check the option “Ignore font sizes specified on web pages”.

You can also choose to ignore any colours and font styles specified by web pages.

Images

Images that are an essential part of the site's content have descriptive alternative texts. Decorative images have empty alt attributes.

Help texts

Some links have help texts, which most web browsers display as tooltips when the cursor is hovered over the link.

Keyboard navigation

Most web browsers support so called Access keys, or shortcut keys, to navigate websites. How Access keys are used varies between web browsers and operating systems. On Windows, ALT + Access key is common, and on Mac OS, CTRL + Access key is the most common.

The following Access keys are defined on this website:

Printing

There are two ways of printing from this website. You can print a page the normal way by choosing “Print…” from your web browser’s menu. This way, the page that will be printed is the same as what is visible on screen. Note that many web browsers by default are set to not print background images. This can make the page look slightly different on paper than on screen. To print exactly what is displayed on your screen, you need to tell your browser to print background images.

Another option is to choose “Print this page”, available at the bottom of most pages. This will display the page without menus, masthead, footer, and other elements that aren’t part of the main content.

Technology

This website is built with web standards. This means that XHTML 1.0 is used for structure, and that CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are used to control presentation.

Most people use a web browser that supports this. Anyone using an older web browserm or a browser that has insufficient support for CSS, will get an unformated, but still fully functional, version of the site’s content.

Web browsers

If you’re using Internet Explorer for Windows, we recommend that you upgrade to the latest version (6.0). It has significantly better support for web standards than previous versions.

An even better alternative is to install another web browser. Here are links to some modern web browsers that have very good support for web standards:

For more information on these web browsers, please visit the corresponding manufacturer’s website.
