The municipal executive board

The municipal executive board corresponds to the government at central level, and implements the decisions of the municipal council. The decisions of the executive board are implemented by the municipality’s various committees.

In contrast to central government, all parties are represented on the municipal executive board. The number of politicians from each party, and their position on the executive board, is determined by how many mandates each party gains in the municipal council, which is decided in the municipal elections.

The municipal executive board’s work is to manage and co-ordinate planning but also to follow-up the municipality’s operations and the municipal economy. The municipal executive board also prepares and expresses views on all matters on which the municipal council is to make decisions on.

The executive board drafts or delivers its opinion on all issues before they are resolved by the Council. The board is also responsible for implementing the resolutions. The chairman of the board is the municipal commissioner Bengt Gustafsson (m) and the vice-commissioner is Miguel Odhner (s).
